October 2006 Global Learning Semesters and HACU (the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities) are proud to announce the beginning of the Hispanic Study Abroad Scholars program (HSAS). Hispanic Study Abroad Scholars (HSAS) Through the HSAS program, Global Learning Semesters will make available up to $8 million of scholarships for HACU students attending Global Learning Semesters programs. Each HACU institution is eligible to nominate one student each semester for a HSAS scholarship. Scholarships are $1,000 and reflect up to 33% of host institution tuition. With the HSAS scholarships, some Global Learning Semesters programs are among the most affordable comprehensive semester abroad programs in Europe and Central America. The HSAS program is one of three initiatives undertaken by Global Learning Semesters and HACU within the Hispanic Global Alliance, an effort aimed at reducing the gap in Hispanic participation in study abroad by 50% by 2016.More information about the Hispanic Global Alliance can be found at www.HispanicGlobalAlliance.org. |
